13 and 14 inch notebooks with current Core i processors in the test

The corona pandemic and Russia’s war in Ukraine have shaken up the notebook market in recent years. At first the demand was huge due to lockdowns and working from home, but could not be met due to logistics bottlenecks and a lack of components. In the meantime, the market is not only oversaturated, but also the buying mood in the basement. As a result, the manufacturers have massively overturned their plans since 2022: Below 1000 euros you will mainly find notebooks in which the current processor year is not working, but CPUs up to three generations older.

Intel’s thirteenth Core i generation, unveiled at the beginning of January 2023, is currently only found in high-end devices such as the 13 and 14-inch devices gathered here that had to prove themselves in the c’t laboratory: Asus ZenBook 14X (UX3404VA), Acer Swift Go 14 (SFG-71), Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon (13IRP8), LG Gram 14 (2023), MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo (A13MT) and Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 14. They cost from 1400 euros.

By far the most expensive device in the test field is the HP Dragonfly Folio G3 2-in-1. On the other hand, it still uses a processor of the twelfth generation Core i – we included it anyway because it’s only going to be available in stores these days. Windows 11 is preinstalled on all candidates.
