Xiaomi wants to join Leica in the first row of smartphone manufacturers. The camera of the 13 series is impressive, but there are other weaknesses.

The role model is obvious: With the Leica partnership, Xiaomi is emulating its slowed-down competitor Huawei, whose market share the company wants to absorb. For the first time, Xiaomi is also selling smartphones in Germany whose cameras were created in cooperation with the Wetzlar-based optics company.
Xiaomi offers the 13 in three models: 13 Lite, 13 and 13 Pro. The Lite is significantly worse equipped than the 13 and 13 Pro – not only in terms of the camera. Xiaomi has also saved on the processor with the Lite. But it also costs significantly less, 500 euros are due for the entry-level model, the Xiaomi 13 costs twice as much and the Pro even 1300 euros.
Only the two top models are waterproof and dustproof according to IP68. 5G, Dual-SIM and eSIM are part of the equipment list of all three phones. Fast UFS 4.0 storage and Wi-Fi 7 are reserved for the 13 and 13 Pro models.
