Amazon Luna: Cloud gaming service now available in Germany

Games can now also be streamed to a range of devices in Germany via Amazon’s “Luna” cloud service – including Fire TVs, iPhones and iPads, Windows PCs and Macs, as well as Android smartphones and tablets. Amazon announced this on Wednesday. The service started more than a year ago in the USA.

Prime members get access to a monthly changing selection of games at no additional cost. At the start, for example, “Mega Man 11” is available for free access, in April there will be “Jackbox Party Pack 3”, among other things. Prime members can also link their Ubisoft Connect account to Luna and play select Ubisoft PC games they already own directly on their Fire TV or other supported device.

In addition, subscriptions can be taken out for three different game libraries. For 10 euros a month, you get access to a list of titles compiled by Amazon under the name “Luna+” – including “Beach Buggy Racing 2: Hot Wheels Edition”, “Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated” and “Resident Evil 2”.

For 18 euros per month, AAA titles from series such as “Assassin’s Creed”, “Watch Dogs”, “Tom Clancy” or “Far Cry” are available via “Ubisoft+ Multi Access”. Finally, a “Jackbox Games” subscription, only available on Luna, includes titles such as “Quiplash”, “Trivia Murder Party” and “Drawful” for 5 euros per month.

A free app allows customers to use their iPhone or Android smartphone as a controller to play on Luna. There is also a special Luna controller that connects directly to the cloud via WiFi. According to Amazon, this should minimize latency. Alternatively, a connection via Bluetooth is also possible. The controller costs 70 euros.
