Vaishali Takkar suicide case: Ex-boyfriend who allegedly harassed TV star arrested, accused was trying to flee

The main accused in the suicide case of TV actress Vaishali Takkar, who was found dead in her Indore home on Sunday, has been arrested. The Indore Police on Thursday revealed that they nabbed the main suspect, who is accused of abetting suicide of Takkar, on Wednesday.

The cops also recovered mobile phones and other devices from the man, who has been identified as Rahul Navlani.

Earlier, a reward of Rs 5,000 was announced by the Indore police commissioner for information about Rahul Navlani and his wife. A lookout circular was also issued in the couple’s name.

State Home Minister Mishra said police were retrieving data from the gadgets seized from the arrested accused. The data will be analysed and action will be taken into the matter accordingly, as reported by
PTI.

The accused, who runs a plywood business in Indore along with his father, was trying to escape from Indore but was nabbed before he could, as per reports. There’s no update on his wife’s whereabouts yet.

The accused couple lived in the neighbourhood of the 29-year-old actress, who was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her house in Saibag Colony of Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city on Sunday. Takkar, who was known for her role in serials like ‘Sasural Simar Ka’, left behind a five-page suicide note in which she claimed that Navlani was harassing her.

Takkar’s family members had earlier alleged that Navlani was troubling her since he came to know about her plans to get married. The late star’s brother, Neeraj, recently shared that Navlani first met Takkar at a gym after she returned to Indore from Mumbai during the Covid-19 pandemic.

When things between the two did not work out, he allegedly started threatening the TV actress of dire consequences if she were to get married. Takkar was all set to tie the knot with a California-based software engineer named Mitesh in December this year.

A case was registered against Navlani and his wife under Indian Penal Code Section 306 (abetment of suicide).
