Sanjay Singh among 100 AAP leaders detained

New Delhi: About 100 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and activists were detained on Monday as the party took to the streets protesting against the questioning of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the liquor policy case.

Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh was detained along with other activists as they protested against the CBI summons. Sisodia linked the summons with Gujarat and his party convenor Arvind Kejriwal raised the issue during his campaign meetings in the poll-bound state.

Sisodia took out a roadshow in an open-roof sport utility vehicle on his way to the CBI office and made many stops, including at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial Raj Ghat, and addressed AAP workers. He left home after a tilak ritual, accompanied by senior leaders Singh, Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj. He also shared a video of his mother blessing him. He predicted his arrest in the liquor policy case and tweeted in Hindi, “Mere jail jaane pe garv karna (Be proud of my imprisonment).”
